Caroline B. Green Scholarship
This scholarship program was created at the request of its namesake, the grandmother of KYPLC Co-Founder Cannon-Marie Green. Known as Granny to her ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Caroline has dedicated her life to empowering individuals to create better lives for themselves. Along with the support of her entire family, Granny's support was particularly critical to Cannon-Marie during college and law school. Therefore it is only natural to embrace the opportunity to honor Granny's lifelong commitment to equal access to education for all.
Through the Caroline B. Green Scholarship program, KYPLC will award a $500 scholarship each Spring to an individual who, in the words of Granny, "is striving for a better job but is unable to afford tuition and other expenses." The program was started in September 2009 by a donation of $100 and has since grown from an anonymous donation of $400. KYPLC will award the first scholarship in March 2010 and hopes to be able to award numerous awards each year in the near future.
